so I replaced the battery in my girlfriend’s 2006 Eddie Bauer Expedition. I cleaned the terminals etc... well now the stereo comes on but no sound. It shows a set of headphones on the display where it never did before. The volume / power knob turns but zero sound it shows volume is turned up but nothing. Is there a reset someplace?

Read the owners manual. Page 28 or so. The headphone icon means the rear seat has control of the audio system. Press the 3 & 5 keys on the head unit at the same time to return control to the front unit.

That was my first thought, the headphone icon goes away but still no sound. The display shows the volume to be up about halfway but no sound. I’ve checked fuses and still no success. I’ve thought about taking it to car toys or Best Buy to see what they can do?

I don't know but is it possible there is a separate main amplifier maybe with an inline fuse, that popped when you reconnected the battery? I know there are a few inline fuses that can be hard to find? No idea if the 2006 had the amp in the head unit or separately.. Just something to consider.
