2007-2014 (maybe newer) Skid Plates for Ford Expedition & Navigator:

I did a lot of research for good skid plates and there were not a lot of options until I called RCI Metal Works and spoke to Josh: 970-222-9195

After talking to him it turns out that the Ford Truck 150 2009-2014 has a lot of similar frame holes as the 2007-2014 Expedition & Navigator and that the first two skid plate packages he offers will work.

I purchased both skid plates (which consist of 3 plates) that cover the front all the way past the oil pan and transmission and just about covers the transfer case.

There are multiple grades of metal to choose from:

1. Steel 10 gauge comes standard for basic strong protection which is stronger than any of the OEM skidplates

2. Steel heavier: 3/16" $50 extra is heavy duty, comes black painted protected and is great for superior rock protection (around

3. Aluminum 1/4" $85 extra: very strong and lightweight, stronger than the 10 gauge steel and almost as strong as the 3/16" steel but much lighter and less corrosive.

To give you an idea of weight if that is a factor for you:

Front skid plate which is 2 plates:
10 gauge steel: 35 lbs
Heavy Steel 3/16": 50 lbs.
1/4 aluminum: 26 lbs.

For my needs, I chose the aluminum as I do not do rock climbing such as Jeeps do but I wanted extra protection at the lightest weight and I did not want to keep painting it for protection.



Here is a general photo that shows the pieces. All work except the the last one which is the Transfer Case. I believe Josh said it would be a tad too short.

NOTE: The only thing needed to work is two more front bolts with speed clips for the front skid plate. Make sure to ask Josh for two more front bolts with speed clips (the F150 already has the two front bolts in place).

Below are my photos after putting on all three (2 plates for the Front Skid Plate and 1 plate for the Transmission Skid Plate).

I did NOT have to drill anything. All the holes lined up and matched perfectly. I installed everything in about 1 hour.

i put rci plates on mine a while ago, be careful of the 2nd plate rubbing the front differential casing it caused a leak in mine

you also need LONGER front speed clips. I notified Josh of that last year when i put mine on. He might be providing them nowadays. The front skid plate hole matches up, but the regular short speed clips provided wont reach. I told Josh that last year. Did he give you clips that worked?

Hi,

Where was yours rubbing exactly? I have checked mine over thoroughly and so far there is a lot of clearance everywhere. I am not sure if Josh changed the skid plate template or not but I will check again to make sure.

As far as the front speed clips, Josh forgot to give them to me so I found some bolts to use from my garage that worked.
