This is why I basically never want to buy a car in may area again.

I can go a few hours away to nice climate and get 10-15 year old ones with almost 0 rust even on frame and suspension. The people there don't want them! They want newer ones so values are still same as what I would pay here for a rusty one.

I hate salt, water, and oxygen.....logic be damned!

Yeah all that stuff made me wonder as well. Think I'll keep looking. Plus, we're not in the ideal position to trade right now anyways...

Thanks guys for all the input!

    Problem is, it ain't here.

Called the guy on the 2012 this morning, was asking him about trade for my 08, and he said he probably wouldn't be able to give me more than auction price for it. Said the cam phaser issue drives the prices down on the earlier 3-valves.

Like I said, think it's gonna be a pass.

Are you guys financing these trucks without the manufacturer warranty!??

So you’re making car payments AND paying for repairs?

These two things have, literally, nothing to do with one another. Besides, the B2B is only 36-mths/36K (~2 years for many people), whereas the average car loan in 2018 was 69.5 months. That means virtually everyone that is financing is doing so without the manufacturer warranty.

Well, went and looked at the 2012 today. Was really impressed, it seemed to be in great shape. Rockers looked great, powered running boards worked, no peeling paint that I saw right off... Took it on a test drive, seemed to run good. Sunroof and everything worked, heated seats worked (those are NICE). But, here's the thing. I trust the one I have just as much or more than I'd trust this '12. Got back in mine after the test drive and liked it just as much.

We don't NEED the extra room yet, so I think we'll drive ours for awhile yet.

If someone else is looking to upgrade, I would recommend giving that one a look. I posted the link earlier in this thread.
