Right on, some good info above. Honestly, it hasn't malfunctioned once since I wrote the post, so as soon as it does, I'll be trying both of those techniques, and see which is the culprit.

Mine does the same thing waiting for it to get a little warmer and I’m going to take back cover off and check wiring, I have a suspicion. It is a connection since it comes and goes usually after back is hatch is open. Let you know what I find.
