Just installed a two-camera dashcam system, and routed the rear camera along the passenger side window trim, from the rear pillar to the front pillar, then across to the rear-view mirror tucked into the headliner.

Question: Over the doors, where are side airbags located? Are they over the window, in the pillars, somewhere else? I want to make sure the wire doesnt' interfere with the bag deployment.

There are air bags in the side of the front seats and it has the safety curtain that covers the side windows.

Most additional airbags are fairly bogus though....also, dashcam shouldnt take much power at all, get a firesafe gauge for the wattage but dont go much thicker and any airbag should obliterate that puny lil wire like it was never there

IMG_0244.JPG I can't find any good reference on the exact locations, but it looks like the side curtain bursts through the liner between the top of the window and the where the body curves into the roof.

I'm gonna move the cable to the floor.

More likely to injure you than to help.

The one that keeps you from flying out your windshield was a somewhat good idea, but then they just HAD to go and turn it into a phallometric game of marketing oneupmanship... **** did 8, then koreans gotta make 10, germans come out with 12, and - game on! - somebody in michigan is scratching their head right now tryin to figure out where to add number 21 22 and 23 to appeal to the soccer mom demographic, and deciding whether or not they can get away with something totally ridiculous or it at least has to SOUND marginally reasonable

Furthermore, someone should just go and state the obvious: airbag-loaded thick pillars are a ****** safety hazard.... hell, even rear headrests probably kill more people than they help. Remember the good ol days when looking over your shoulder when reversing actually DID a damn thing???

And now they got electrics and hybrids that kill their ICEs and rrverse silently...wait another decade and somebody will *suddenly* realize to equip the damn thing with a reverse alarm like trucks use

Expect a massive lawsuit or ten and tons of front page and "breaking news" SUDDEN epiphanies once that nonsense racks up enough of a bodycount and someone notices
