I just joined this forum because I’m looking to potentially purchase a new family hauler and after cross shopping the Expedition 4th gen is the best I have found. The proof that not everyone agrees with me is that GM is still selling a ton of their full size SUV’s, even with an imiment refresh. We all know about opinions...
One of the complaints of Ford appears to be the price point of the Expedition. Although everyone seems fixated on the Platininun and Limited’s pricing, Ford also offers a very nice XLT that is quite competitively priced. Someone asked why i don’t just by a Navi for just a slight bump above the Platinum. I personally like to go a little under the radar. I would argue that if you have $80k to spend on an SUV, the Ford optioned up is an incredible deal for a large family.
If I didn’t like an Expedition 4th Generation, I probably wouldn’t spend time on their forum. I own a Tesla and it amazes me how many people who have never even driven that car bash it on the TMC forum. Speaking of going under the radar, it is hard to do in the Tesl and I can’t wait until Ford or GM fully commits to electric. In the meanwhile, I don’t go on the Chevy Volt forum to tell them their car sucks.
So you only want good reviews that don't point out the negatives? Would that not be helpful when you are looking to buy to keep an eye out for instead of realizing it after the fact?
Anyone can sell anything for whatever they want. It's the buyers that are to blame honestly. The more that buy it at this ridiculous price, the more they will do it in the future. It's always been known that the SUV market was the most inflated while some of their cars I've heard they actually lose some money on. Internally, Ford could make changes, especially nowadays w/ the technological state we are at, to reduce their own costs to reduce inefficiencies to both lower the price for the consumer and still make a good profit.
Again, I've been here for many years I did like the Expedition and have owned multiple. The 4th gen just disappoints me. So that makes your argument invalid.
BTW, something else the bugs the hell out of me is the controls on the steering wheel. Do the engineers not understand button separation? It causes a steeper learning curve to make it muscle memory so you don't have to take your eyes off the road. Mainly it's the cruise control buttons since I use them the most, but they are all a bit wonky. They need edge lips or something to let you know where you are and maybe some sort of tactile variation so it's easier to learn. I think they just need to redo the steering wheel entirely.
