I just sold my 2005 Ford Excursion with 6.0 turbo diesel. I bought a 2017 Expedition EL. Size does matter!
The Excursion was wider and longer as witnessed by how much room i have in my garage next to my Mustang. The Excursion I could only open the driver door half way. The Expy I can open all the way!
I did get about 21MPG on the highway which was impressive. The only bad thing about the 6.0 was the EGR, variable vanes inside the turbo and head gaskets. I was able to delete the EGR and didn't have an issue with the head gaskets because I didn't add 40 lbs of boost with a tuner. The turbo on the other hand. The unison ring that allowed the variable vanes to open and close would rust in less than 10 days if you didn't drive it. With the vanes sticking you would get under boost and then a check engine light.
While I miss the size of my Excursion I will not miss the turbo rusting up. What a PITA!
