So my ‘21 had a sudden onset of wrunnung rough then died while my wife pulled into a retail parking spot. It would crank and if it fired it ran like a diesel for a few seconds then died. Tried it a few times with no success.
Called AAA for a tow but couldn’t get it out of park and in neutral due to the electronic trans. Finally got mobile assist from my local Dealer who initiated the manual park over ride and eventually got it winched on the flatbed and taken to the dealer. NOTE - this was last Wednesday and it was nearly 100* out.
It was checked out and found that the PCM was giving death codes(?) and, the battery being original was low but still functional. The new PCM was ordered - over $1100 for the part alone (nearly $1700 list they claimed) - and installed today but the dealer says that there is also a fuel pump issue, believed to be the in tank pump at fault.
Ok, I’m fairly mechanical but how ironic is it that I need a new battery, Zpcm, AND a fuel pump at the same time?
This is going to cost me a lot with the labor. This truck has been flawless until now. It has nearly 92k on it and has only needed regular scheduled maintenance and wear items like tires etc.
But that ended now.
Thoughts? Does this actually happen?
