Dented and cracked windshield from air born stone. I've heard windshield has special coatings for sensors plus the sensor box attached to the inside windshield too. So has anyone experience a windshield replacement including costs and reprogramming sensors, etc.

I've got a 2022 limited, so SoundScreen glass, rain sensing wipers, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, ect..
Replaced mid 2024 by a local glass company in my parking lot. When I met the installers, I made sure to check the replacement glass myself to ensure it had SoundScreen before they installed. Everything worked perfectly fine after. Not sure if they did anything other than swap the glass (recalibration etc..) but doubtful as it was in parking lot.
Cost was $750 plus tax at that time.

Well, depending on your insurance coverage & deductible, you may be able to get it replaced at little to no cost OOP....

I had mine replaced by SafeLite last year for the same reason, and since I had full coverage w/a glass damage waiver, all I had to pay was $50 out of the $700 overall cost...which covered the labor for them cutting off the lower left corner that had the inspection & emissions stickers on it, so I could tape it onto the new glass until it was time for renewal 2 months later :)

The only "sensor" that had to re-calibrate was for the speed-sensing wipers, which took them about 3 mins to complete !

Windshields are usually covered by Comprehensive insurance. I used Safelite and paid nothing. There are also some companies that credit you for their broken windshield. I used one, one time, and received a check for $150.00. Replacement companies should know what windshield it takes.
