Does anyone have any contacts or paths when the dealer and Ford customer service isn't helping?

I've had a vibration since the vehicle was new and I have 9 documented balances. On my last visit to the dealer they suggested that we try a road force balance. I was dumbfounded because I thought they had been doing RF balances all along. They said that I needed to specifically tell them to do a RF balance . Lo and behold, two tires failed. They put those on the back and the vibrations are much better. So, this is what's been happening all long and why the vibration comes and goes. They would balance and rotate the tires and depending on the location, I would have a vibration.

Here's the kicker - they're now telling me I'm too far over on mileage. I was at 35k when we found this out. I swap with winters, so these tires have maybe 20k on them, but of course they won't take that.

I called Ford and they told me that the warranty is 12k. Even before I had a chance to discuss further the CSR told me that the policy is firm, no one else can help me, and there is nowhere to escalate. I was a bit surprised as I hadn't asked for any escalation. The dealer is telling me to go contact the tire manufacturer and their Ford rep denied any claim.

My winter set is on right now and there are no vibrations.

Bean Counting is Job 1 at Ford. They obviously went with the cheapest OEM tire. I count myself lucky with the General tires on my 2024, but I did notice excessive number of weights on a couple of wheels.

Car manufacturers almost always go with the cheapest OEM tire unless it's some sort of specialty vehicle. Be glad it's not an odd-ball size--GM was known to do that back in the 90s.

How about the Michelin TRX tires that Ford put on the Mustang. Ford knows about all the problems reported about these General Grabbers, but the dealership service departments act like it's the first time and plays dumb with the hope that customers will deal with subpar tires.

Funny that you mention that. In April 1980, I took delivery of a new Ford Mustang. At that time, you could order a Mustang with all the performance goodies from the Mustang Cobra without actually ordering a Cobra. So, my Mustang was a base model hatchback with the 2.3 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, 4-speed transmission, TRX tire/wheel/suspension package, hood scoop (to clear the air cleaner), and Recaro seats. I spent a lot of time with the salesperson working out the order and it sailed through Ford's order process.

The car was fast (what do you expect for a car from the malaise era?) and handled well...on dry pavement. It was a handful on wet pavement and nearly impossible in the snow. But, I was stuck with the TRX 390 mm wheels and thought I was stuck with the Michelin TRX tires. In 1981, Goodyear came out with Eagle GTs in the TRX size. I made the switch. The car was about the same in the dry and much better in the wet.

I'm still a big fan of Michelin tires...just not the TRX.

My reference to GM above comes from a 1997 Chevy Astro that I once owned. It had some sort of "performance" wheel/tire/suspension package with an odd-ball tire size that only Goodyear made.

Hello all, I just bought a 2024 expedition in December with the 22inch wheels, general grabbers, ccd, with the max tow package, and I have also been experiencing a vibration at highway speeds. The car only has 2k miles.

I took it to the dealership this week and their report was that 3 out of the 4 general grabbers have excessive runout. So they are going to replace all four tires with new Michelin defender ltx under warranty.

I will test drive the car tomorrow once the new tires are installed and report back on whether that fixed the high speed vibration or not.

Well, I picked up the car today with the new Michelin LTX M/S 2’s, andddddd it rides completely different. Much, much, smoother and the vibration at highway speeds is gone.

Hope this helps anyone going though this and they have the General Grabbers on their vehicle.

We had a very similar situation with the Grabbers as you back in late July/August last year on our new Stealth. We switched out to the Pirelli Scorpion AS3 plus tires and everything was good after that, the vibration was gone! I was back and forth between the Michelin and Pirelli, but after driving with the Pirelli's in all conditions, I am very happy with them. We had Toyo Celsius on our '19 Stealth and those were 3PMS tires, but I would put the Pirelli's right there with them and give them a greater score for the ride overall. Firm, planted, and smooth so far in all conditions and that is even in snow and ice that we just got back from a 4 hour trip driving on.

my 2024 King Ranch is in for it's 2nd balance and now 3rd RFB, they replaced the front grabbers, still vibrated. Replaced the rear grabbers and still has issue. Everytime it's been with an RFB. Now they are going to replace all 4 with Michelin's. Been in the shop most of its life with me. We see what the service department comes up with.

Therein lies the problem. Ford and its dealers know there is a problem with these tires. You pay over 75K for a vehicle and it is screwed up. Repeated visits to service and after screwing up your day you have the same problems. Where in Fl are you located?

I'm in Ormond Beach... Dealer said they were replacing all 4 with Michelin's, Service manager called and said Ford wouldn't authorize that brand. Thru Hankooks on it. The vibration supposedly went away. I have yet to drive it. ****** me off they went from a mediocre tire to a lower rated tire. I'm not done with them yet.

You are right next door to me to the south. Right in the middle of the sea wall construction. What dealer did you use?

Going the new tire route soon. Wonder if going to a 275/50 be any different?

Currently debating between the Pirelli's and Michelin's OEM size.

Were it me I'd opt for the Michelin's. I've had them on numerous trucks and cars without any problems. Onr pair of pierelli's they were off in a month. ymmv

Gary Yeomans, was happy with them when I purchased my 2020 F150 KR and service there after. Not happy about the Hankooks install but it seems to have taken care of the problem.

I've been buying truck and Expeditions there for a long time. Seriously, if you get a waltz with the service dept. Talk to Gary Boyle in service. He use to turn wrench's out in the service bay. His wife was a service writer. He can get things done if at all possible. If it isn't right, find Gary and explain what's going one. Who was the service writer who had the Hankooks put on.

Justin Russo. Can be condescending at times.

MY new 2024 Expedition XLT, with the 20" wheels, had the same problem.. I went to Discount Tire and purchased the lifetime balance package - and the tires were way out of balance.. in fact.. they had to rotate two tires on the wheel to get better "road force balance" numbers. Much better now! (Yes.. could have taken this to the dealership.. but.. this was faster.. and.. now I can get my tires rotated/balanced at Discount Tire every 5K miles....dealership would charge for each instance!)... BTW.. mine came with Toyo tires.. and I'll bet it will get even better once I eventually replaced them with Michelins...
