My 03 f150 I can be doing like 40mph and I can in gauge the 4x4 High on the fly while driving.
Can my 03 Expedition do this ??
I always stop put in (N) then in gauge 4High or 4Low..
I'm scared to try it BC I don't want to mess up my transmission..
Anyone know
Thanks

Read your owners manual and you will see how its done
Don't have a owners manual for the truck or Expedition.
The previous owner of the F150 showed me on the truck..

You can get a copy of the owners manual at

owners.ford.com
Thanks I did download the .pdf
So apparently I can engage from 2wheel to 4H or AWD while driving up to speeds of 55..
Sweet
Only engaging to 4L require complete stop then (N)..

I have the 2003 Expedition with 50,000 miles on it. The owners manual says you can shift from 2H to A4WD and 4WD while on the go. The manual says you can expect to hear a clunk when you do so. I do not like to do it because the clunk is very loud and disturbing to me. The dealers have said that is the nature of the beast. I do not think that is true in later models, at least I would hope not.

I have done it like 3 different times switching from 2W to 4H and I never here a clunking sound jus the normal smooth engage sound. Granted all 3 times its been under 30mph..

Mine makes a loud clunking sound at any speed and the owners manual says it is normal. I don't think it's right, but it always has made the sound. I must say I have had a lot of problems with this vehicle since the day I left the lot in February of 2003. I like the expedition but the number of issues has been very bothersome.

Man sorry to here that bro.. But yea the clunking sound defiantly not right I don't care what the manual or the Dealer says..
Even my wife's 03 F150 engages on the fly with no clunking sound.
Heck I can barely even here it engage.
But I never van feel it engage.
Now when I come to a stop and put it n (N) and engage 4L then I feel and can here the clunking sound but same on my wife's truck so I'm sure that's a normal..
