Hi everyone, first post!
Little background. I am a huge powerstroke van fanatic..... I bought a 97 e-150 for parts for one of my projects. Turns out it has a good running 5.4.

So I had been looking for an expedition with a bad engine to swap in the van 5.4. Yesterday I bought a clean 99 eddie bauer with a rod knock. Don't even have it home yet.

So my question is what is involved in swapping the 97 van 5.4 into the 99 expedition. I know the 97 is npi, and i think the 99 expeditions can be either? Can I swap in the complete 97 npi and will everything from the 99 expedition hook up to it? Will the tuning be ok?

I would rather not get involved with swapping heads if I can help it.

Thanks for any help.

They should have been both 2v mods so prolly not much 1st what transmission does truck have vs expe and also resurch gearing in rear end. Also are they both 4X4. Transmission and such will effect tuning differences other then that? 99 expe is a Gen 2 expe I believe so there may b more diff. Like controls emission regulations but I doubt the latter.

Got about 1200 miles on it and it runs great. Here is what I did.
Stripped both engines down to the shortblock. Put the 137k mile pi heads and intake on the 105k mile 97 shortblock which bumps the compression over a point. So it runs real good.

Converted the air suspension to front coilovers and rear springs using the Monroe 90010 kit. Got rid of the p0401 code by replacing the faulty dpfe sensor. The throttle body and elbow were cleaned when I put it together.

Still have to pull the instrument cluster to remove the ck susp bulb, and repair the intermittent odometer problem. Also gonna need brakes, rotors, and hub bearings shortly.

So after all that, my question is has anybody had any luck with the ebay bearing assemblies?
