8.8 R & P interchangeability

I have an '00 EB Expo with open 3.31's that I'd like to change to 3.73's with the limited slip. Can I take a "D4" or "L73" tagged gearset out of an Explorer/Ranger/F-150, etc. and use it? Money, or the lack of it, is my main motivation. Or would I be better off just installing said axle. Do they interchange?
Are the WMS to WMS measurements the same. Please forgive my newbie-like questions. I'm very new to Ford's. Thanx!

The axles won't swap. I'm sure they are different widths and they have different things welded to the outside: coil spring perches vs leaf spring perches being the biggest.

The diffs should swap though.

You may need to look into standard rotation vs reverse rotation though.
