I have a 1998 Expy, with 297k on it. Had it for about 4 years. It recently started hesitating and acting exactly like it did when I previously had coil pack problems.
Twice before I had issues with the coil packs. First time the place I bought it from replaced a coil pack (unknown which) because it started hesitating like 2 days after I bought it. Second time I had a shop install a coil pack (can't remember which one.) Since then I've done research on them knowing it was a matter of time, and also, I wanted to install all 8 at once.
Last week it started hesitating again. I bought 8 coil packs and some dialectric grease. Yesterday I replaced 3 on passenger side and 2 on the driver side. I was not able to reach the one in the very back on passenger side. On the driver side, where I replaced the front 2, the fuel Pressure regulator prevented me from getting to the 3rd.
My question is; can I disconnect the fuel rail w/fuel pressure regulator from passenger side so that I can get to my other coil packs? I'm not sure what the ramifications are to disconnecting that, even if I install it right back (air in the fuel lines, fuel lines under pressure, etc.)
Also, being that I replaced 5 of 8 packs and I am still getting hesitation, what else should I be looking at? Should I just take it in to the mechanic?
