98 expo double din

Hey all new here. Just bought a expo starting to put in a new system. im thinking of a pioneer AVH 4200. Its a double Din head unit with a 7 inch touch.
I been reading other threads and researching every where to see if it will fit. Some say yes and some say no. if anyone can clear this up before i buy the unit i would be greatly appreciated. vehicular is a 98 thanks

I haven't personal done it but I've seem it done. It's possible with a little trimming so don't inspect a perfect fit. Maybe a few folks who have done it will chime in. Welcome aboard.

Have not put one in yet but found this install kit which shows where you need to do the cutting and triming. I will hopefully be getting mine in before christmas.

Well its ordered the matra piece and the pioneer head unit. i think i should be able to do it with the pdf you provided. it seems very simple thanks alot guys hope to report i installed it with no problem.

Pioneer AVIC D-3

My neighbor and I installed a Pioneer AVIC D-3 in my '98 XLT. We did not have a template and did just fine. I cut a bit here and there until it fit. It is snug and I used a few wood wedges to keep it level and centered.
I love that unit as does my 5yr old. When we run errands I pop in Bugs Bunny and he is happy as can be the entire trip. I like the added sound effects from the subs and amp and I'm sure he does too.

I have a Kenwood DNX 5120 all I had to do was a little trimming and she fit right in. Good luck with that.
