98' Ford Expedition engine humming noise! HELP!!

Hello all,

I have a 98' Eddie Bauer Ford Expedition with a 5.4L V8. The past couple of days I've noticed humming from the engine while idle and driving but don't know what's causing it. If you have a solution, please leave a comment below. Help with the cause of this would be greatly appreciated.

Remove the serpentine belt and see if the humming goes away. If it does it is one of the parts that the belt runs. Don't run the engine long since the water pump will not be running.

I agree here... you could actually feel the vibration from the pcv hose on mine.

Is it more of a buzzing sound than humming? I heard a buzzing sound from my engine for a few months and could never figure it out. Then I got a bank 1 lean and replaced the pcv valve, hose and elbow and it completely stopped the sound (and the code).

Mine was the IAC valve.every time I would go through deep water it would suck up water and the noise would start do I bought 5 for back up.... Hope this helps
