2000 Ford Exp 4.6 new a/c compressor and heater core. The compressor was leaking oil and freon so it was replace. When the shop was about to start the repair they saw green water leaking from fire wall and told me it was the heater core also. Now I just get cool air not cold. What would be the problem be? Taking the exp back to shop on Monday. I was told by phone it might need more freon or needed to adjust something so more cold air could come out. Any ideas what he meant.

Your model does not use Freon. If Freon was used it the system, it can damage various components. Your model uses R134a refrigerant.

It is hard to guess what is wrong - but it is clear the shop you used did not perform the repair correctly.

The system could be undercharged with refrigerant, or the a/c cooling fan is not operating properly (not cooling the a/c condenser properly), or one or more HVAC blend doors may not be operating properly. When the heater core was replaced the mechanic may not have reassembled the various seals and ductwork properly.

Good luck - let us know what the shop tells you and/or does.

hopefully you got your money's worth from the shop so far as the servicing goes.... however, one thing i've seen time and time again and it's importance for a system to work the way it's intended is folks not cleaning the exchange.

run down to the hardware store, get a couple cans of spray on exchange cleaner, which should be found near the hvac filters. shoot all of the can on the front of your a/c exchange, and the other at the back... may as well do the radiator too- so... four cans... a few bugs, a lot of dirt and debris- and that heat exchange doesn't heat exchange....

follow the directions on the can... i wager your problems will drip off on the ground overnight.

The expedition was checked and the r134a was at the correct pressure. They washed something in front of the truck with a pressure washer. They also replaced blower motor I had to pay the part it was installed for free. Now it's nice and cold. Thanks to everyone that replied

Originally you didn't mention anything about the fan speed. If there wasn't a problem with it then they ***** you.
Condenser cleaning is a no brainer when working on ac. They should have done that to begin with.

i would not be a happy camper if someone took a pressure washer to one of my heat exchanges... anyone who did while calling themselves professionals needs to evaluated by the BBB.
