2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L w/towing
I hope I'm posting this in the right spot. Along with having problems with my running boards not lighting.

I can't get my front 2 windows to roll down. I can hear it click when I try the driver side but nothing moves on the window.
Also my horn and steering wheel cruise controls don't work. Is this something normal? Please help!

There was a recall on the cruise control system. My cruise control stopped working and I took it to Ford to fix. They replaced a module, as part of the recall, and it began working again. May you be so lucky here.

Could be your gem module, the windshield leaks water down onto this module and it controls a lot of things. Makes things do weird things

Yeah Craig I've heard about the leaky windshields that the First Gen Expy's are famous for but I didn't know what kind of damage it would cause. I'll go to Ford and have them look at that module. Thank y'all

My bet it’s the window regulator motors. Same thing happened to mine. Hear a click but no movement.

I’d agree with everyone except the fact he’s got multiple problems, odds are all those are not all broken at the same time. The gem module controls many many things. Mine made the radio turn on and off and and made running board lights turn off and on when driving. I believe it’s about $150 to buy and swap yourself. It’s under the dash near pedals. I’d imagine Ford is gonna rape you to do this.

I have the exact same truck(2000) and I had some issues with the harness up the steering column getting piched from the "wheel tilt" causing some of those problems. My two sense.

That's what I thought. If you hear the clicking take the door panrl off and jump wire the motors.

I think Craig is speaking wise words about the GEM. Don't go to Ford, they will rape you
Go to the wreckers and grab 2 or 3 of them.

Take the panel off see what you are working with. (super easy and the panel is off in less than 5 min. (lots of youtube vids on it)

I think you could jump it from the switch. Go to the down stream side of the switch with the positive. I don't know if the Gems are interchangable. Try amazon parts applications if no one has that info here. I will see what I can find.

before you install new GEM did you solve the problem of why the old went bad? Most of the time its water getting in from the widshield seal.

Did you ever have a problem with the drivers window rolling down randomly on its own initiative before it quit working altogether?
If so there is a way to bypass the GEM to fix that shown on a UTube vid. Easy

If your GEM has been receiving moisture you could try CRC Electrical Cleaner on the pins and plug connections. See if there is green corrosion present.
Some problems can be caused by moisture and the fusebox too. The GEM is directly behind the fusebox.

It looks like the Ford GEM Module will fit a number of different models but it does have to be programmed or 'flashed' in the vehicle. UTube has videos on it.

I might have some GEM problems too. I myself will try the wreckers route, and to try to make the job easier I will try to find the exact same year, model, trim, engine etc. if possible.

Does somebody in our forum here have some details to help us with this?
