Hi all- I was driving yesterday and my ABS light came on when I parked. It now stays on and turns on immediately without the car moving. Is there any chance this is the the sensor, or is it the abs system itself since it doesn't have to roll before the light comes on?
Thanks
Hoping it's the sensor

first it would be nice to know year, model and engine

Take it to advanced auto and ask them to read the codes for ABS then post the codes on the forum this will help narrow which sensor/component is causing the code to appear Otherwise you are going to get a lot of answers that will be guesses

1997 expedition 4x4 with the 4.6. I have a code reader myself which I will try when I get out later today, but I'm assuming it won't be effective for the abs system codes. Would Nappa read the codes?

Well Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts told me they can only read check engine lights not ABS codes... where do I go from here? I would rather not purchase a new obd reader for the ABS system.

funny that advanced auto couldn't read the abs codes They sell the Actron CP9580A and the advance auto in my area use that unit to read codes Only other way would be to find a local garage and pay to have them read the code

Nope, no O'Reilly's near here, but I found a friend who has a scanner capable of reading the ABS codes! I'll let you know the codes once I get them tomorrow afternoon... thanks for your continued help! This forum is really great.
