I've noticed this a few times recently but for some reason, when I need heat from the truck, my AC light will be on. It's not blowing cool air, but I still wouldn't think it should be running. It doesn't happen a lot, but it's happened enough that I noticed.

Example -- I jump in after work. It was 40* outside, and the temp inside is set to 90* (blower is on two bars). About a mile down the road, I notice my AC light is on. Weird!

Any explanation?

do you have it in the defrost vent position? If so, then sometimes depending on the outside conditions, it will turn the ac on to dry out the air to defrost the inside of the windshield.

+1......Anytime you run the airflow through the defrost vents, the AC will kick on.
