Covers can look ok but they have to be good ones or it can wind up looking cheap.

Replacement...those of us the have replacements can spot the covers and to me defeats the purpose of the mod...it will look cleaner and better...like it belongs there with replacement

Don't want to hijack your post, but while on the subject, I would like a replacement Stainless diamond mesh grill for my '05, but see only horizontal or vertical bars.
I think certain model years of F150 either came with this grill or it was available aftermarket for that truck.
I think this style grill looks sharp on second gen Expy's, but I can't find one.
Anyone know where to get one?

OK, thanks. I checked those places and it's still like I said.
When looking for a stainless mesh grill, I come up with this message:
"Sorry no products were found for your
2005 Ford Expedition XLT 8 Cyl 5.4L"

Plenty of stuff for F150's and bar grills, ABS grills, etc.

I really appreciate it, Freeway. I looked up E&G and they sell a number of different grills.
T-Rex seems to have one, but I'm not sure if it's an insert or an overlay. But it's still a very strange deal for the second gen Expy. A company like Lund just skips over from the first gen up to 2002 to the third, 2007. Others just start at the late models or don't list Expeditions altogether. But one thing is clear. The second generation Expeditions seem to be odd man out in a lot of ways and I find it hard to understand why. If I were a little kid, I think I would start to get a complex

Here's mine... it's a stainless steel cover. On my design you don't see the original grill... it's easy to put on and remove... as well. What I noticed though because the stainless steel reflects what's in front of it, some times it gives the illusion that it's dented:)
It looks cool though especially on a sunny day - really shiny!

What else are you looking for?

I was looking up a lot of things when I first got the truck at the end of winter
and was left with the impression that there was more available for the other
(and newer) generations. Off the bat, I can't pinpoint one specific thing right now other than the availability of grills that I mentioned. I get that there would be more stuff for a first gen. I had a '97, and it's been around long enough for more product development.
I agree that replacement is a lot better than an overlay as far as grills.
Off topic, I like your overhead DVD, Freeway. Mine came with the factory one, which is a wimpy, like 5 or 7 inch or something. I'd love to go with a 15 inch if it is mostly plug and play, and can be mounted in the same spot without drilling too many new holes.

not sure about plug and play...but you may need a bigger mounting area since you'll be going from 7-15 inches...i want to do a 20 inch monitor now...i have a 12 inch in there now so we'll see...it needs to be tightened...bass hitting so hard the screws came loose...i didnt put it in...

if its available it would come from a limited edition...i dont think you can but its worth a shot so hit up tascafordparts in the vendor section and post what youre looking for...if not...you'll have to paint it...that what most do and since youre going black...try plastidip...effortless and you cant mess it up...clean up is easy if you spray where you dont want...give it a few and rub off with fingers...
