I was looking at cold air intakes, anyone partial or have better experience with one brand over the other? They all look about the same to me. I also wanted to put a throttle body spacer in which aren't much. The burning question in my warped little mind is the Mass AirFlow Sensor upgrade. The manufacturer claims 8 to 25 horsepower gains, that the stock one restricts airflow, that it optimizes the cold air intake, it only takes ten minutes, that you will be able to walk on water after you install it, so on and so forth. Are they worth the 275 dollars or is the stock one sufficient?

Any "known" name air system will be a benefit for your truck. I run a K&N 77 series intake and it even improved my gas mileage a little bit. You will also notice a more crisp throttle response throught the RPM range. A throttle body spacer IMO is only good for a paperweight. Now for the Mass airflow sensor i doubt it's of any use also...especially for 25HP ... If it does improve performance it will probably be 1hp max..

Also, you will love the sound of your engine once you put in the CAI. It will sound like a real V8 :)

I got an AFE cuz it was what they had available, and could install for cheap on the spot. Don't have any complains. As for gas milage, I'm too lead foot to notice anything ;)

I like the AEM intakes just because of their dry-flow filter...no oil to muck around with.

But power-wise, I think they are all about the same...justa tube with a filter stuck on the end of it. The ones with heat shields are likely best.

MAF = don't waste your dough.
It's not a bottleneck.
