Anyone know a good Expy mechanic in the Canton, MI area (between Detroit and Ann Arbor)? I think I've officially turned my last rusty bolt on my 97 EB and I have a few things left on my to do list. I've replaced rear upper and lower trailing arms, springs, shocks all around, front axles and front sway bar links and resealed the rear diff. Except for the diff I think I had to cut all but three bolts off with a sawzall. The money in Diablo metal blades alone probably could have paid for the dealer to repair...

Anyway, I need a good mechanic to install my rear swaybar bushing kit, weld some exhaust hangers and investigate a transfer case leak. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I live in MN so I cannot recommend a good mechanic (unless you want to drive to Minneapolis! Then I can help you) but if you ever end up working on your truck again, stay away from those damn Diablos. I just replaced my lower control arms and had to cut the bolts out as well. I bought brand new Diablos, and they cut worse than my normal Milwaukee blades. And my Milwaukee's were missing teeth! I will never buy Diablos again.

Good advice, thanks!

I might wind up doing a few things as I bought a dewalt electric impact wrench and I will need an excuse to use it again. Not as powerful as an air tool but for those without room for a 30-60 gal compressor its not a bad substitute.

u should be able to do the bushing kit seeing you did everything else...go to exhaust shop for the welding on leaks...but im sure youre trying to do a "1-stop shop"

It may come to that, I just foresee stripped and broken bolts and I've had just about all of that I can take. Maybe I'll change mind mind after taking a break from wrenching for a while.

If you are still looking for a mechanic, I would just start calling places and comparing prices. Find specialty shops. Exhaust shop for the hangers, tranny shop for the transfer case leak, and pretty much any shop can do the sway bar linkage. Google is a powerful tool when looking for shops. That will save you the most money, by using shops that specialize in what they are doing to your truck, as opposed to one that only knows bits and pieces of all the things they are doing to your truck.

Mullins Auto in Milan MI does excellent work. I've used them for quite a few different things from mounting tires to diagnosing electrical problems on my old cherokee. Good People
