I'm looking for a design for a setup which will allow me to carry my kayak on the rear of my truck via some kind of welded T bar which attaches through the trailer hitch. something like this

which allows me to carry my kayak vertically on the rear of my Expy without the need to load it onto the top of my truck (My yak weights 55lbs and is a ***** to get up on the roof rack)

Any thoughts appreciated!!

As a kayaker myself, I see height being a problem if you are holding it vertically on your hitch. They make holders that have rollers on the back and just lift the tip up there and then slide it on. (you can use a welcome carpet to protect the paint)

I cant say i have ever seen a hitch mounted kayak rack. You could get a tow behind rack(aka a mini trailer). They are pretty pricey though. Roof racks are probably your best bet. I do know what you mean with having issues doing it by ur self. You def need two people to get them up there with just a rack.
