Technically, if I add tires that are 20mm wider than stock (305/45 R22), I can add a 10-15mm spacer and should have perfect clearance.

I say 10-15 because that 20mm width is split between the front and back half of the tire. The full 20mm addition is not to the back or the tire and rim.

Wonder if a 10mm spacer is ok with factory lugs—?

10mm is a wee bit more than 3/8 inch. I think that will still give about an inch grab of the lug since Ford lug bolts are 1.5 inches (as per Custom Offset website).

Can you tell me more about the trimming of the running board. Does it just have a capped end that you remove and trim the

I cut 2” off and trimmed a little of the fender. The end cap is held on by two small screws. Once you cut the step you will have to drill new holes or use self tappers.

Do y'all think there is enough clearance with the stock FX4 wheels for a 285 75 r18 or would the 34" (285 70r18) be a better option?

Are you saying you think the above 285 75 R18s will rub if the Exp was actually driven rather than just sitting pretty for photos?

That's a 35", I was just wondering if anyone thought that would be a little too tight if you were doing some actual offroading that's all.
