why would I unplug it when not using it? I did a test, draws less than .1 amps, the computer brain uses that much. Don't understand answers like that??

That might be the case with yours, but is not the case with all. Several of the Cheaper devices have been proven MANY times to drain a battery. I don’t understand answers like yours that are based off experience with one adapter.

I have tried over 10 of these different adapters through the years. Trust me when I say, having one that looks at voltage and auto shuts down can be a good feature.

If you buying MX, stay away from MX WiFi, and I suggest then MX+ Bluetooth over the MX Bluetooth. The Plus works with all devices, Android, iPhone, and Computer. It can also be used for FORSCAN as you already know.

Is there an issue with the MX WiFi? Just curious. I have a cheapo ELM Wifi Adapter that does not have access to MSCAN, and the MX WiFi was one I was considering to purchase.

Yes. Disconnects all the time. I sent mine back after owning for 2 weeks. Read the reviews. Pretty regular problem. The MX+ BT takes care of the reason to buy the WiFi version. The original MX BT did not work with iDevices, the MX+ BT does.

I am not a fan of the WiFi adapters in general. Can’t be connected to my Home WiFi and them at the same time.

I have been searching for an adapter that does it all for years, and the MX+ BT is that adapter. It does iDevices, Android, and Windows, and MSCan of course to get to everything on all modules. It really is the Swiss Army Knife of adapters, with little compromise other than price. Then I can say, you pay for what you get.

They will run a sale again at some point, if they do, I suggest you jump on it. I will most likely pick a second one up so I can leave it hooked up in both cars...

The only downside to the MX+ seems to be that if I want to use my iPhone as an app display it can not also be connected to the truck via BT at the same time. Please forgive me if I'm missing something here.

It appears that the only advantage of the MX+ over the MX is the iPhone connectivity. I only use Android.
Their website didn't show anything about PC bluetooth. But I'll be testing it.

It appears that FORScan is compatible with the MX as well as MX+

You can be connected to both the MX+ and the vehicles Bluetooth at the same time.
At least the iPhone you can. I use it as my gauge display and stream Amazon Music to my vehicle all the time.
Have zero issues running both Bluetooth connections simultaneously.
No lag on the gauges and no skipping of music.

You can also connect the MX+ to a laptop Bluetooth without issue if you so choose.

Personally I do not use the MX+ with ForScan for making any changes to the control modules only for reading only.
Call me paranoid but the last thing I want is to loose connection from the device while changes are being made to the control module so I stick to a wired device when it comes to ForScan changes.

OHP ELMconfig Forscan OBD2 Adapter with MS-Can & HS-Can Switch for DIY Ford Diagnostics on Windows https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F0GVBWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KddjCbBYJH2MY

I have zero experience with Android. So all my comments are in reference to use with the iPhone.

I am working on building a decent looking dash pod to house an Android headunit to use for real-time gauge monitoring and GPS (Gaia) for my off road routes. So that will take me into the Android world. It’ll be awhile before I get into that though. Kids are out of school for a couple more weeks so mocking up the dash pod to decide if it will be too obtrusive to actually do before I buy the unit. Plus I have been putting off building these 9mm and 10mm ARs so those need to get done as well and I have all the parts so no money to be spent like on the dash pod venture so that moves it down on the priority list.

Correct. MX+ adds iDevice compatibility.

Both MX BT, and MX+ BT work with FORSCAN via PC. I use both of them for all of my programming. MX before I got the MX+. No issues whatsoever. I have never had any issues with connection. I have programmed both my Edge and Expy without issue. I have also done several friends vehicles.

FORSCAN is compatible with MANY adapters but only Fuly compatible with those that support MSCan. You need the MSCan protocol to make changes via FORSCAN.

OBDLink MX BT and MX+ BT are from my experience the best to use to accomplish that. You can use the MX witch is $20 cheaper than the MX+ if you do not use an iDevice.

HAHAHA!

Whoever told you that is technology clueless.

Any modern mobile device can connect to many Bluetooth devices at once. It can only connect to one WiFi connection at once. Hence part of my “Stay away from WiFi connected devices”.

What year is your Expy? I don't seem to find a lot of FORScan stuff for my 2011. If you have a 2007-2014, I'd love to pick your brain.

I have a 2017 Currently, but had a 2015 before that. Finding things in FORSCAN that work for even the 15-17 has been a pain. There is a whole thread on here devoted to it.

I would start in that thread there is a sheet linked in that thread that would be a good starting point.

The link you posted for some reason is taking me to WalMart...at $83.

ScanTool OBDLink MX Bluetooth: Professional Grade OBD-II Automotive Scan Tool for Windows and Android – DIY Car and Truck Data and Diagnostics https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006NZTZLQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kzrjCbXFAMX2G

There is a current lightning deal for the MX BT that has 2 hours left for $58. That is $20 off retail. I HIGHLY recommend it if you do not use iDevices. It is what I have used for all of my programming until a Month ago. It works GREAT!

TapaTalk must have an agreement with Walmart. Because if I press and hold and open outside of TapaTalk it goes where it is supposed to. That is BS!

Hmmm....maybe I should remove the MX+ from my shopping cart. I removed the MX a few days ago and now its on sale. Hopefully I can get the same action by removing the MX+ and force it to go on sale too.

You have one free upgrade in the OBDLink app, use it for your year PIDs. Then you can choose it from the list in the BCM. I can hook up later and see if I can get the PID Address.

I just hooked up the OBDLink MX with the app. Registered it, eyc. When I go to Extras, all of them are $9.99. No freebies.
