This is more or less a copy paste from my post on F150online:

So, my friend and I decided to make an auto unlock for my 03 Expedition, just to see if we could do it.

Here's a small vid of it.

As poor EE students, we were wondering if maybe we could sell these. I know there might be somewhat of a demand for this for the Expys (hate it when I go to open my lift gate, only to find it locked). I'm just trying to gauge what kind of interest there would be in this, and about how much you guys would be willing to pay for it?

For the one I have in the Expy, it unlocks all the doors once the engine is off, and you open the door.

Thoughts?

Unlock the doors when you shut off the truck and get out.

Basically presses the unlock button so you don't have to, which I sometimes forget to do when I try to open other doors (like when I get my book bag from the second row seat.)

We haven't set a definite price for it yet as we are still pricing out components, but my friend guesstimated about 20-25 shipped. It would really all depend on how many people would want one, since, as you know, stuff gets cheaper to more of it you order. The price would include instructions, wire taps, shipping, paypal fees etc.

As of right now, you'd need to have power locks and power mirrors (or some other form of constant power). We'd have to look at the older Expeditions to make sure the wiring would be the same.

That's how we have it. Might figure out another method of implementation. What would you have in mind?

These are the taps we are using:

For now, we used the taps since it's cheaper that way. Plus, my friend had a bunch laying around. We use them for radar detector installs all the time.

Off the top of my head, the only way to not tap in (without using a connector) would be to undo the pins of the unlock switch connector, solder the wires to the pins, and put the pins back in.

2010 Expedition XLT

I have a 2010 expd xlt, i want to disable the auto unlock on the doors, i.e. I would like the car to remain locked while running, once I hit the lock button while the drivers side door is open. I can use the key pad to get back into the truck. Please help, I've been searching but can't find an answer to this question.

Are you talking about the "don't get locked out" feature, where it will unlock itself if you try to lock the truck with the keys in the ignition? On mine, it just unlocks the driver side door, not the whole truck. If that is the case with yours, I think you can just push the lock button, then push down on the lock with your finger (the one that pops up and down) and close the door. That should keep it locked.

no, when i hit the lock button, with the driver's door open and the truck running, all of the doors lock, delay, then unlock...i'm looking for the override to that feature. i can hit manually the lock button on the driver's door, and it will stay locked, and theoretically, i could walk around the truck and lock all four doors, but.....i would prefer not to
