One thing that confuses people a bit when using Bluetooth is that it is a digital connection and needs to be treated differently than a standard aux input.

The easiest way I can think to describe it is we were always taught to never keep an aux input at 100% because sound quality will diminish. This is because the signal being created before sending it over the cables is meant to drive speakers (headphones) and the cables and connections all have power limitations. With a digital connection the audio is not being created until it gets to it's it's destination (the amplifier) and is limited by the BT receiver to preamp levels (not enough to push speakers/headphones but is better for amplifying). So... Volume on your phone is purely a limiter and should be kept at 100% all the time unless you need a quick way to turn it down etc.

I could be wrong here and I know there smarter people than myself here, this has just been my experience. I also realize that wasn't a very simple explanation... My b...

Also, as a side note, if you have your music "preset" with one of Apple's (not sure if Android does this) EQ's that makes a difference - like DANCE or ROCK etc. I was playing around with it yesterday switching to different EQ setups on my iPhone during the same song. Some of those settings are a real mess lol. I just turned the iPhone EQ off.

On “Who Let the Dogs Out” with all sound settings set to default with Surround mode on and Volume set at 6, Car idling, peak dB-A was 72, average for song was 60.

On “Who Let the Dogs Out” with all sound settings set to default with Surround mode on and Volume set at 10, Car idling, peak dB-A was 85, average for song was 64.

On “Who Let the Dogs Out” with all sound settings set to default with Surround mode on and Volume set at 15(HalfWay), Car idling, peak dB-A was 101, average for song was 70.

Those of ya’ll saying it is quiet have something set wrong or you need to take it in for service...

In all my tests / experience in listening to different sound systems to get the best from the B/O, which from my Opinion, is pretty decent. You just need to ensure you are setting yourself up for the best audio input option

USB Direct > CD > FM Radio (station with less splits in channels) > Bluetooth Steaming >>>>> Sirius Satellite > AM

- Sirius thru over the air / satellite quality is horrible. If you must use this, steam digitally from an app.
- Bluetooth Streaming with Amazon Music / Spotify / ETC... make sure you set your quality to high in the app settings, and set your volume output to 100% from the phone
- Many people don't realize how good FM HD radio is - much more crisp than Bluetooth Streaming
- USB direct / Apple Play is the best - brings the range of the BO out. If you use one of the lesser quality inputs, especially sirius saltellite, the system will sound really dull, which often times even more expensive sound systems will artificially extend the sound range and make it seem good, but it's not accurate as the original.

I agree, we have a 13 acura mdx which has a damn good system and a better woofer, but I do feel listening to the USB drive in both, the expy was clearer and had more range in most all songs.

We love our B&O system. Ours is very loud and sounds amazing. Once we hit 11+ volume I'm unable to hear myself speak unless I'm yelling. We play a majority of our music via Bluetooth streaming Apple Music.

Have the same issue with my Platinum as several others here have. The best way to describe it is the system has no balls to it. I can comfortably listen to music at 30, as in I can talk to my husband and he can hear me. Same with using the phone, it has to be at max volume or you can't hear the person talking. I've complained several times to the dealer and they have acknowledged it sounds quiet but don't know what to do about it. They have it right now and are trying to come up with a fix. We rented a few expo's before we bought ours which were all limiteds and never noticed an issue with the sound until we bought our Platinum.

To help out before you take it in, try these steps to see whats wrong:

-cycle through all of your media options to make sure the sound volume and quality is diminished in all options

-change your sound settings, and increase your bass to max to see if the sub is working correctly

-whatever media outlet has the best sound, cycle through all of your speakers to see if they work

This should help isolate the problems so when you take it to the dealer you can show them exactly where to start

Is the media Bluetooth? If so, delete all Bluetooth devices from both the truck and the phone. Re-pair them and see if it is better.

If you are using Spotify via Bluetooth then try turning off "Audio Nomalization" in Spotify Playback settings.... worked for me.

Have you tried your source with another Expedition Platinum? If it's just your vehicle, try a master reset of the system, including deleting all Bluetooth connections.
