Ok so my issue w my 97 5.4l is that it died while at work the other day. Jumped it no issues after that. Truck fired up every time after that day... today though it had a dead battery and jumped it. This time it took forever to get battery to charge enough to jump.. but soon as I got going it seemed decent. But under hard acceleration it falls on its face bad. I mean baaaaad.. it tries to die like it' not getting fuel. But runs ok just babying it.. when not putting the peddle to the floor. Got home and truck won't start right after turning off... idk what the deal is.. But if I could she be burned up by now. That' how frustrated I am w this damn truck.. plz help

Also just did a code scan and it's p0455. I cleared it. Could that be from it dieing under hard acceleration? Aaand of course it's dead again even w charger on it this whole time lol. Idk I'm sure it' something easy like battery. I' gonna take it out and let y'all know

That might be exactly what's happening. If your battery is that dead and your alternator is failing you wouldn't have enough electricity to maintain fuel pressure.

I'd get the electrical issues sorted and see if the rest resolves itself.

i know the first thing I would do is get it running again and see if that alternator is putting out before I start donating batteries. That evap leak code sounds unrelated to me.
But dont worry, a couple of those crusty old timers are going to check in here soon and tell you the quickest steps to sort it out. Good Luck.

We're not crusty, just grumpy old men! Your gonna be 60plus before you know it. I was 18 yesterday. Along with old age they say comes wisdom! And gingivitis, and back pain, and well all you crusties know the rest. I refuse to eat my dinner before 6:00 pm, and I'm not moving to Florida anytime soon!
