Under my expy today and noticed quite a bit of black soot around my manifold and I just got a new exhaust system done in September. Does the black soot mean I have a leak? Am I burning oil?
I have leaky converter so I just hear that not a chugging sound like a leaky manifold makes.
Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Thanks!

Clean it off in order to determine whether it is soot or crud by running the engine for a while. Then you can determine the cause and fix.

I wouldn't let an exhaust leak ride very long just for safety reasons. You can suck in a bunch of carbon monoxide and then the story is over. We hear about at least one unlucky person a year that it happens too.
