185K and running strong. Brakes are sorta mushy, especially when first moving without towing. They firm up after driving for a while. Better yet after driving some moderate distances.
Thinking of upgrading calipers. Some info that I found said that F-250 brakes were a downgrade from the '98 EB with trailer tow package. If so, what about F-250? Stay with factory?
I know that FoMoCo calipers can be had with either steel or composite (?) caliper pistons. I'd vote for steel.
I'm not sure that I would get much bang for the buck with some of the pricy aftermarket setups, prefer to stay with FoMoCo if it would be an upgrade? Is another FoMoCo factory setup for heavier duty vehicle price competitive and worth the money, or not so much? Model swapout would be nice.
Discs in front are OK.
I probably should go with steel braded brake lines, maybe replace master cylinder?
Not sure about the rear brakes. I think that they are drums?? New steel wheel cylinder pistons? Change to discs?
I understand that the rear brake swapout is a PITA because of the parking brake interference with access?
Replace master cylinder? All the above? Towing GVW--Expy, trailer, and load combined about 7 ton.
Trailer has 2-5500 lb. axles. Just rebuilt trailer brakes. Class 3 hitch.
Thanks for listening.
