Hi just want to say hello to you all. Just picked up an '00 Eddie Bauer Expedition with 4.6L Triton, etc. with 170K miles but in excellent condition-inside and out.
I'm coming from a '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee so the size difference is noticeable.
What modifications do you recommend for a little more power and mpg's?
I guess I'm asking what mods does the 4.6 respond to? Not looking to sink a ton of $$$ into it but as a life-long tinkerer and shade-tree mechanic-I just can't leave well enough alone.
I'm thinking High-Flow Dry air filter replacement, cat-back 3" exhaust with a Flowmaster Super 50 for starters. I've seen on vids that Motorcraft plugs are best and not to waste money on Platinum, Iridium, etc. What say you? Is there any merit in upgrading the ignition system, i.e., MSD, Accel, etc. box?
What about trans upgrades-coolers, shift kits, etc.? No, I do not plan on towing much if at all. my intended purpose for this car is long distance highway trips (approx 1600 miles RT) in comfort about twice a month. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
