Car alarm goes off

Hello all. If we lock our expo, but our dog stays in....the car alarm goes off. Does anyone know what is causing this or is there an easy fix?

When you shut it off the screen on the dash will show inside sensors or outside only, use steering wheel controls to select. Out side sensors only

First....that does work. But it just seems ridiculous that you need to press that every single time! Who designs this stuff?! It should be a setting that you should be able to set it and forget it.

You can set the default on the dash under Advanced Settings -> Vehicle -> Alarm. You can then choose to be asked or to default to either setting.

It will not default. It resets to all sensors every time the vehicle is shut off. 99whitec5coupe.....funny thing is it didn't come with a manual. I bought it used. Sorry for taking up your precious time....I was under the impression people could come on here to gain knowledge and understanding from others. Keyboard warrior, huh?

Don’t use your key fob to lock the door. Use key pad on outside of driver’s door (78 together) and doors lock without arming super sensitive security inside.

What year model? Mine is a 2020 and definitely lets you set a default.

Personally I like it asking as sometimes my teenage Son wants to stay in the car and we still lock the doors. Being able to just select perimeter in that case is handy.

Did you try Settings -> Vehicle -> Alarm as suggested above? What options do you see?

You could also try electrical tape over two two sensors in the overhead console.

The owner’s manual can be found here (for future reference). Looking through it, it appears that the option to default the alarm setting came in later models

My ‘18 let’s you pick a default or prompt at exit.

On my 2019 the selection does not stick. When you restart the car it defaults all perimeter sensors.

Mine appears to stay that way. The prompt on exit always has the permitter “checked”

I’m guessing this is a safety feature to help prevent child deaths from being left in a hot car

Could be. My kids set it off a few times until I started using the door keypad. Usually leave it running and them locked up.
