What is the main reason for wanting the Icons? I have had mine off road to it’s limit. It’s will never be a great overlander or trail rig. Sport mode is the way to go off road. It’s to big and low. And I worry about the flexing aluminum body and sunroof. It made some weird pops and noises flexing it up and dragging over ledges. If I had the regular shocks I would have the Icon kit. Just like I will never own a Superduty without a Carli kit. People just don’t understand how poor they ride and how good they can be. That being said the CCD’s and Ready Lift are not to bad. I would like to be able to pick the spring rate or adjust my ride height on the rear for towing. But other than that I am content for now. I may get the 2021 Excursion if it is real.

i want the bilstein 6112 shocks actually. the icon is way too expensive and after running icons and holsteins i find i like the simplicity and reliability of the bilsteins. and to be honest its mostly for the on road performance.
i find the stock shocks to be way too soft in normal mode and the transmission way to intrusive in sport mode. if i could combine the sport shock setting with the normal transmission shifts id leave it alone.
im not sure how long you drove yours before going ready lift. its possible by adding the ready lift the additional preload has remedied the overly soft issue for you. if you could shed some light on that id be interested to know.
i agree the expi is never going to be a serious off-roader. but with a little better dampening it won't annoy me on the streets and it'll go most places i want to take the family camping in comfort. i think you're in utah if memory serves. down here in arizona we have tons of really great dirt tracks that are plenty wide enough for the expi and the biggest issue i run into wheeling is washed out areas or really rocky patches (were water washes out the clay leaving big baby head rocks).
i tested the suspension with a jack (i don't have an rti ramp) and i found the expi has 4 inches of droop at each corner. unfortunately i couldn't find a good way to stuff them so i don't know but id guess less than two inches of up travel.
as im sure you know, but maybe informative for others looking at this, the spacer lifts add preload to the spring to affect a higher ride height. this comes at sacrifice of decreased total wheel travel however. ive never spacer lifted because of this so i have zero personal knowledge of how the ride changes. ive been in plenty of spacer lifted trucks but not as a drive and as a passenger i don't pay enough attention to the ride to really comment. id love to get 2 more inches of usable travel out of my suspension and i think the 6112 is better matched to the weight of the expi than the 5100. albeit i love my 5100s on my much lighter 4runner.
lastly the beautiful thing about our trucks having four wheel independent suspension is that any lift actually increases ground clearance. i can't even get under mine on a creeper so any gains there are really useful.
hope that clears up my goals and aims. more clearance and stiffer ride are the two main goals with added wheel travel to keep tires on the ground traversing deep ruts and uneven areas.
