cd changer blues

I purchased an eddie baur 98 two months ago with a cd changer issue. It loads cd's but does not read them. After shuffeling all cd's it comes back with a message "no cd". I read some other owners issues and tried the top two solutions..... 1. remove cd player and air out dust particles 2. disconnect battery and re connect to have car computer reset. Neither worked. Any suggestions??????

I had the same problem. I think I took it apart and took a cotton swab with alcohol and cleaned the lense. It's been working ever since.

Funny, I was hoping someone would say that! I was not looking forward to figuring out why and how to fix the changer. I could use the extra room in the console anyway.

BIG question:
What would you purchase to put in your expy? do the 2-din models fit good?

update........ completely took out cd changer..... opened shell...... and could not see a lens ....... well, I still had fun tinkering with it.

They make a cd cleaner that looks like a normal cd but has cleaning tabs on it. We keep one in the car and expy and run them whenever we start to have trouble. I'd give it a try before ditching the changer.

For parts, not working.........

I cleaned the lens on ours and came to the conclusion that it is a mechanical problem. The discs do not appear to be actually shuffling. The deck says no cd in mag. Well, I pulled it out and had intended it for the dumpster. If anyone is interested (parts maybe?) I would be happy to send it to you for the cost of shipping.

cd cleaner didnt do the trick........... thinking used one on craigslist or a portable one that works off car lighter

I'm just going to take mine out to have the extra space since I don't need it. Thinking of selling if interested.... Although not sure if it is in working order since I bought truck with after market radio already installed.....

My Expy has the tape deck to. Give that a try if you have an ipod like me or go for an fm modulator which sends the signal directly into the antenna via hard line so you have great sound quality.
