Ok I'm looking into changing all my coil packs . Should I go with OEM ? Accels? Or Granatelli? What's your opinions? Also if I do go with either accel or granatelli should I get better spark plugs if so what type?
Oh it's a 5.4
Thanks people

I wouldn't go with the oem, I've replaced a few with oem and don't seem to last to long I'd upgrade.

Are you getting any misfire codes ? If not, I wouldn't change them just to change them. If you are getting misfire codes due to faulty coil I'd stick with Motorcraft parts. The other aftermarket brands are just Chinese junk in bright shiny colors. Many coil related issues are just caused by people spraying water onto the motor and the water settling into the sparkplug wells, causing shorts. If you pull the coil off, blow out the water, apply some dielectric grease and re-install the coil the problems go away.

Yes I've been getting misfire codes I also change 2 of them and now another set is failing. I might as well change them all. The ones I have changed are burned out completely...

2003 5.4 Denso coils p/n 6736000

I recently changed out all eight on a newly-acquired 2003 with the 5.4. Vehicle had 155k on the odo, so who knows if they were ever changed. They weren't giving me any problems, but I'm going to be using this vehicle for road trips, so I don't want to be stranded somewhere. I guess it was cheap insurance for me is what I'm trying to say.

Anyway, I installed the Denso coils (p/n 673600, but I think these only fit 03-04 for 2nd gen. Check before buying.) I paid a total of like $190 shipped for all eight from rockauto.com. They seem to be working fine. I've put about 2000 miles or so on the vehicle since they were installed. Bonus, they're made in the USA!

Also, I installed Autolite iridium plugs. Made in Mexico. Not as bad a China, I guess.

Hope this helps.

Well its been 2 months now since I upgraded my coils and plugs... I switch to Granatelli Motor Sports MPG Plus Coil Packs and Motorcraft Platinum Spark plugs... And I have to say I'm very happy with this combination...... MPG has increased , throttle response smooth and has a nice punch... much better pick up... you can really feel the power it has now.... So in my humble opinion I do highly recommend Granatelli Coil pack and Motorcraft Platinum Spark Plugs... I ordered them Both From Summit Racing

There have been multiple users on here that have had the Granatelli COP's of which most have complained. Haven't seen feedback on the coil packs though.
All I'll say is Google them and read for yourself....

I had two coils changed at the dealer and they "stress tested " the other six. The random stumbling continued, no codes. Took the advice of the forum and a neighbour Ford fan and replaced the remaining 6 with aftermarket name brand coils.

Problem solved.
