And here I was thinking about taking an Excursion body, splitting it front to back, adding in another 18" or so and then slapping that body down on a military grade H1 frame (slightly extended to make the wheels line up properly. I thought that would be a cool setup since you can't legally put the military hummers back on the road. But, since it would have the Excursion VIN, it would be "legal". Now, that would be a beast to have. But then, if you are going that big, might as well get the new Hummer Maurader. I would drive one of those in a heartbeat. I know I am good, I have the secret clearance that would be needed to buy a truck like the Maurader. he he he he he he.

Unfortunetly(not sure how that it is spelled) the Marauder costs to much. Also, who says you cant put a military H1 back on the road. I,ve seen plenty of them on the road with tags and insurance. Hell, I even towed one that broke down. I would love one of the H1 Alpha'sI'm not a fan of the Duramax but that could be changed.

love the look of the 78-79 Bronco be cool if they retro that look, but I don't think we'll see anything new in the large SUV market any time soon.

SGTowing, the DOT cracked down on the H1's awhile back because the military ones were never certified to be on the road. The military gets away with it because they are the US Government. But, if you go to buy an H1 now, you will get the truck in 2 pieces and you also have to sign a document stating that you will not put the truck back on the road. With that being said, you can take the truck, weld it back together and then use it on your own property or at a 4x4 park and be just fine. But no driving it on a public road.

WOW....can you imagine the gas mileage on these monsters??

prolly about what i'm getting right now w/my excursion. since its been -15 overnight but finally warming up there has been ALOT of idle time. when i'm out during the day running around i leave it running..gotta love the remote start. so combine the idle time which the V10 uses .7gals an hour idling with running in 4x4 all the time and my heavy foot i'm getting 7 to 7.5mpg with my V10 excursion right now. not that bad considering my expedition going the exact same thing is getting 8 to 8.5mpg...food for thought!

let me set the scenario its -10 degrees, expy has been sitting out all night. i remote start it to warm up. 24mins of idle time there. all city driving and any place i stop i leave it running which could be 30 mins could be an hour) also running in 4x4 high ALL the time. idling kills MPG because your just wasting gas basically except you have a warm truck! lol and i REFUSE to get into a cold truck.

now that said during the summer i get about 10.5-11.5 around town and the excursion gets 8-10mpg around town.

only time i've ever seen 16mpg was on a highway run of 300 miles a few weeks back. best MPG i'd ever seen out of the expy.

here is tracking of my MPG for the last 14k miles/ year and 3 months.

look up the fuel milage on the 5.4l 4x4 first gen expys a couple things that dont help the mix is the added weight of an expy vs f150 then the low tranny shift pressure doesnt really help either

I know the Expedition is heavier I just didn't think the expy should get that bad of fuel milege is all.
