My 1999 expy 4.6L runs like what seems to be on half power. checked the coil packs and found that I have to power center pin drivers side coil plug. passenger side is tested fine with power on center and flashing on 2 end pins when trying to start. I am now being directed to the crankshaft sensor but would that effect power to the coil packs? already checked all fuses and relays not sure where to go next.

You should be able to measure power at every coil. The computer completes the ground to fire the coil.

You should be able to measure power at every coil. The computer completes the ground to fire the coil.

Its when the ground is opened is when the coil actually fires. :p

But obviously it cannot open the ground without closing it so the statement is still accurate. When the ignition switch is on you should have battery + to the coil. The ECU is switching the ground.

If you checked for B+ voltage and have it on one bank but not the other I would think you have an issue with the wiring harness or connector?!

The fact that one side works would rule out the crankshaft sensor for me as it controls the ecu ignition and injector timing on both banks.

A schematic would help......
