I was looking at getting a specter cold air intake. I hve a 5.4 EB and I was wondering if it will give more horsepower and if so how much? Also will it help MPG?

Probably not a noticeable amount of added power. Basically all it does is give a better intake sound, though some do say they see a 1-2 mpg increase. When I put my K&N filter into the truck, I tracked RPM's before and after, and with the new filter it ran about 100rpm's less at the same speeds with a paper filter. So in theory my truck was more fuel efficient but I never noticed it doing fuel calculations.

Was the "bit more of a difference" due to the intake or new plugs or both.
I would say that being you did both at the same time that it would be hard to know which made the little bit more of a difference

Understand But my question was, Was it the plugs or the CAI that gave the improvement. Being you did both at the same time it is hard to tell how much improvement was done by either or if it was just the plugs alone that made the improvement or just the CAI alone. And if it was both how much of a percentage would you say each made an improvement.

Its like taking your car to a mechanic and telling him what the problem is and when he tells you that he replaced 3 or 4 parts and the problem is fixed you will never know if it need all the parts or if just one would have cured the problem

I have the Spectre kit. I installed it before taking our usual trip to Az. I gained 1mpg with it. The truck also seemed to have an easier time accelerating and going up the hill.

by dropping in a CAI alone "doesnt" really do anything but probably what yellercobra said....... again.....by doing my plugs...there was a BIGGER difference. i wasnt fixing a prob. i was just upgrading to CAI for SOME performance.

I did plugs, K&N air filter, supercharger, tfs heads, comp cams, built bottom end, exhaust all at the same time and felt a significant improvement.

My guess is the majority of it was the K&N. Maybe 60%... but I could be wrong. :p
