So I recently did the mark dohc swap from 98.I decided to go with a e - fan due to the fan clutch not working out.I went with a used duel fan from a 01 windstar it covers the whole radiator.I have the fan controller set at lowest setting 160 f.With the car at idle for 30 mins kicks at 190 f at coolant temp and stays on but the temp is still rising it got up to 213 f at coolant after 45 mins at idle.I then turned it off because that's to hot for comfort.I haven't tried switching the wires see if it's going backward. It does feel like it's blowing right way.

Is this fan not the right choice? Not enough cfs? Any ideas:think:

Mine can hold a piece of paper to the grill while the fans are running. Try that and you'll know it sucking enough air. Thermostat might not b e opening right. Make sure your coolant tank is full as well. 213 won't hurt your engine.

Thanks for the reply:Rock on:

New to this engine and last thing I want is blown head gaskets. 213 is ok don't really know what good coolant temp for this engine. My sohc always stayed at a quarter and the dohc gets up to half way.The t-stat is the stock rated one 195 I think.going to order 180 stat tomorrow. Holds a piece of paper isn't your fan suppose to blow air into rad instead of suck air out new to the hole e-fan thang. It seems to suck when red to red.switch them today and it's definitely blowing with black to red but my controller keeps blowing bat. hot fuse 30 amp on start up.

What's a good operating temp at the coolant?? I'm using a elm327 bluetooth reader with live data via torque app..I've been using the same reader on my land rover 4.0 V8 . Normal operating temp for it is 188 to 199 f @ coolant no more than 201.

The fan should pull air through the grill and the radiator. Think about when the vehicle is moving. The air is moving towards the engine. If the fan is pushing the air it'll cause issues.

Thanks yeller well said:Rock on:So it's right then still tryn find out the perfect operating temp to set fan control at and the right coolant temp this dohc beast should run @ range wise.

NOTE; It runs like a champ all sohc sensors, injectors and ecu no tune yet.No top end with out runner's tho:puke:lol.Big deference so far just getting started:flamingdevil:Really need to make sure temp perfect before proceed.

E-fan is a better choice for this swap right?

Thanks

So I changed the t-stat today with 170f..NOTE: If you want a low temp t-stat oriely and auto zone keep them in stock for a 95 cougar fits perfectly . Anyway with new t-stat in and all air gone Walla. .My temp is holding 188 f to 197 f.My fans come @ 192 f.This sound right? It held @ 185 throughout idle. Now I have to work out dieing at stops think it's the aic connection. It was tryn to die when I wiggled the conector.

Thanks all :Rock on: I will post road test underload.
