cooling system flush?

Hi everyone, im new to the site and needing some help. I have 97 5.4 liter xlt editition and its been set up for about 2 years. Juststarted driving it again and doing the basic need to dos to it and Im stumped on what would be the best way or correct way to backflush the cooling system. Is there a correct way in order to flush entire system? Please help if anybody has more knowledge on this. thanks

Head over to the parts store and pick up a bottle of radiator flush and follow the directions on the bottle. The stuff is made to descale and clean out he system.


You could also just do the drain, fill, run, repeat method. Keep going until nothing but clean water comes out. Remember to have the heater(s) running.

Or you could do the water hose way, just BECAREFUL

Pull drain plug, take off the radiator cap, insert hose, start the engine turn heater on, turn on hose, wait till it turns to water,..

As I said becareful not to get the c.o.p.s wet

The hose that comes off the bottom of the overflow is just the size that a garden hose will fit over. do that and open the petcock on the bottom of the radiator
