take into account i have 35w 5000k hids in my headlights and foglights

today in the morning everything worked, when i went to lunch i wanted to show one of my friends the hids so i turned them on and pulled the switch to turn on the foglights but the little light that indicates that the fogs are on didn't light up, i didn't think much of it

so then around 7 when i was cruising around with a friend i turned them on again the low beams and foglights and it was still not dark so i couldn't tell if the dash was on or not but i noticed in cars reflections that the foglights were off i pulled the switch in and out and nothing

as it got darker i tried again and noticed the dash running lights plate lights and foglights will not turn on

is a fuse a blown or is there another problem????

also does anyone know/have a fuse diagram i can look at?? and do you guys have any ideas which fuse(s) might be blown??

Alright, let's see if we can figure this one out :p Lemme pull up the wiring diagrams...

Are your fogs on relays, or just OEM connector?

Alright, here's the fog light schematic so you can start looking at it while I pull up the others.

Foglightschematic03exp.jpg

Where it says F1.#, it is a fuse number, where the # is the fuse number.

Plate light.

Yea, I'll upload them all, so I can see them all at one time. If you stay on late enough I might figure it out later tonight. I'm about to eat, so it might be a little bit.

Where is the clicking coming from? It's not the AC, is it? This started before the foglight incident? Does the clicking vary with speed, throttle position, etc?

well first it started when like 2 weeks ago, ONLY when i would turn on the rear air, then it started whenever i would turn on the ac, now it clicks whenever the truck is on, and i don't know if it varies with speed, usually the radio is on LOL

i'll look at the fuses tomorrow to see if any are blown

i would stay on later but its 10:35 i wake up at 6:30 and i still gotta take a shower lol

How fast is the clicking? It's a clicking, not a thumping, right? It's coming from where the rear AC is (under the 3rd row rear quarter panel, passenger side?)

BTW, have you checked any of the fuses you mentioned? Or were you asking for a list to check, so you could check them tomorrow? Number 6 covers a lot of the things that are out on yours.

I'd imagine so. One way to find out :D

Either way, you may want to consider putting a relay on those fog lights. Might also consider having a bag/box of spare fuses/relays for times like this. Would have sucked to get pulled over for plate lights out...

okay bad news.... i guess

i just went through 3 fuses right now

#1 i installed and i turn on the parking lights and fogs and the dash was fully lit according to the dial, but i couldn't tell if the dash itself was lit, it only lasted like a minute then the fuse burnt

#2 i installed another fuse i turned on the parking lights with the dash on off with the dial, but when i lit up the dash (again i couldnt tell if it was on or not) the fuse burnt

#3 dash was on off, parking lights came on, i turned on the fogs wait a minute turned the dash on (again couldnt tell if it was on or off) and the parking lights were fading in and out like they wanted to turn off but stayed lit, but it only lasted 5 minutes and then the fuse burn out

any idea what could be wrong??? any other fuses to check??

The switch ( and I am going with the 2005 EXPY is the same as the F-150, so caution with this ), the instrument illumination ( cluster, radio, HVAC panel, etc ) have a harness connector that is on the back of the switch, it is on the opposite ( back ) side of the panel dimmer switch.

If you unplug this connector, it will isolate / remove the instrument illumination circuit from the parking lamp circuit ( also the panel dimmer switch ).

If you do this, and the fuse will hold, that will indicate the problem is with the dimmer switch or some where with the instrument illumination circuit.

If the fuse will not hold, then the problem is with the parking lamp circuit.

i did this and everything works parking lights plate lights fogs, and the fuse does not blow, i left the dimmer switch on full but had it disconnected, a buddy of mine was telling its the switch itself thats bad, what do you think? i'm going to the dealer in about an hour or so

Did you ever figure it out? My dash lights don't work and don't know if the radio does or not because I don't have one in it yet. This is a 97 Eddie Bauer and I just got it last week and trying to figure out what the problem is. It started out with the interior lights staying on and no dash lights but fixed the interior lights, it was 2 metal prongs on the dimmer switch touching so I moved them apart and it fixed the interior light problem but not the dash lights. I checked the fuses and they seem to be good unless I checked the wrong ones. I'm thinking the dimmer switch still might be bad but would like to hear what you all think or know what it could be so I can try to fix this headache of a problem. Thanks
