Well, you definitely got one thing correct...like I have said many times in this thread and others....NEVER Disable the BMS in a Modern Ford. These vehicles are FULL of modules that are sensitive to Voltage, and what does the BMS do, CONTROL VOLTAGE.

APIM Start/Stop option should not prevent the Start/Stop function from activating...but maybe the 25+ Expeditions behave differently to that setting.

What is the behavior now that you have made that setting? Does the button stay lit? Or is it just not working, and everything is good to go?

Don't have a 25 to mess with, so this is GREAT if you found it for those too lazy to press a button, and have FORSCAN.

Personally I strive to stay away from assumptions that conclude the reasoning of people you have no knowledge of. Obviously I'm not lazy or I would not have put in the effort to resolve something I don't like and post a resolution for others to benefit from.
My reasoning is that I don't feel the system has any significant benefits to fuel economy or the environment and very likely results in excess wear and tear which probably offsets the "green" benefits from a carbon footprint perspective. I don't like being forced into a false feel good system that is really nothing but symbolism over substance to make fictitious green points or someone feel like they are saving the universe. If the government had implemented the system so that I had a choice of defaulting it to active or inactive I would have no issue. Choice is a good thing. It's annoying that I am forced to change it every time I restart and other drivers may not bother to turn it off. All of which I believe is detrimental to my vehicle. Therefore I put effort (I believe that's the converse of laziness FYI) into changing what I can. I prefer to solve problems rather than live with them.

Button is not lit. Nothing appears on dash. I'm playing with it today since I think some of the changes I made are unnecessary.
I agree that it is not intuitive why the APIM, PSCM, DDM and PDM would be in play but I'm slowly figuring out that these systems interact in strange and mysterious ways. Lol. All I know is it works to disable Auto Stop Start. Today I also stumbled across a Stop/Start line in the IPMA module which I have never modified. I reversed the changes to DDM and PDM today and drove about 50 miles. I still have no errors and the Auto Stop Start remains disabled.
I'll continue to update as I can.

When you arrive at what you think is a reliable way to disable it on a 25+ could you provide details on what you modified?

I don't think you may find a safe solution that doesn't mess with the bms system. This is why so many choose the bypass adapter. I'm not even sure if that is 100% safe. I chose to not modify it on my 2019, even though I've done pretty much every good mod available.
I just start the vehicle, press the shut off defeat button, press to shut of traction control unless it's raining, and turn on cruise control. 2 seconds later it's set the way I want it.
