Display audio track on gauge cluster screen?

I often have Carplay running Apple Maps on the main Sync screen, so I can’t see what song is playing without switching over to the audio tab of Sync, and then switching back again.

Is there a way to have the screen in the instrument cluster display audio information? There are various options that can be selected, but I can’t find one for audio information like track name and artist.

U unfortunately, no you cant. I personally hope they change this soon.

The 3rd gen can do this. Are you certain there isn’t an ‘entertainment’ or audio information screen?

Nope not in the new instrument cluster. The f series trucks and expy use a different screen than the other ford models. One of the better things they omitted from the third gens.

You can on the Explorers of the same model years, but not the Expedition.

The new interface in the new explorers retain this as well

My wife's 2018 Edge does this and my 2011 Explorer did it. Kind of silly they couldn't make this work.

Personally, I would prefer navigation turn by turn on the center dash cluster. That is just me, though.

That you can have! If you select the compass, when you have a route active on the Ford Sync nav, turn by turn will display in the gauge cluster instead of the compass.

Now, One step further... I wish that the CarPlay navigation would be on the center cluster.

You can now have nav and music displayed at the same time with CarPlay. Example is Apple Maps and Amazon Music. If only 1 thing is showing press the button on the lower left of the display screen to toggle between single app view and cluster view.

I am talking between the tach and speedometer of the driver dash cluster. I got that center console cluster working fine.

I was responding to the original poster. They stated they often have Apple Maps on the main screen and couldn’t see the song choice at the same time. You can see both at the same time on the right setting.

OP wanted to know if you could have CarPlay running in the center stack and the audio track displayed in the gauge cluster the way most other Fords (and, frankly, most other manufacturers) allow.

And yes, you can see nav and audio information simultaneously in the center stack on CarPlay following the most recent iOS update, but only if you’re streaming something. If you’re on CarPlay and listening to satellite or terrestrial radio, the track does not display on the CarPlay home screen in the center stack.

It is indeed the case with third gens. Had not noticed that before. It also has another feature I was not aware of- pressing OK on the steering wheel repeats the last voice instruction. Very useful. Back when I used Garmin nav units the ability to repeat an instruction was one of my favorite features. To this day Google Maps and Waze still do not support this which I can't believe.

Just came here to search for this. Why. The. FAK. Did ford hobble their radio so much? ONLY carplay music in gauge display? But ONLY built in nav in gauge display? Max of 18 presets and you can’t move from one set to the next with the steering wheel button? All presets must be separated by source?

It’s like they are trying to frustrate user. Jeez
