I personally like Rockford fosgate speakers and kickers most of their stuff sounds good and isn't super expensive
I avoid crunch like the plague, they reek of cheapness.

as far as the powerbass there's a few of them that are really good , i remember reading a post on a car audio site a while back and multiple people recommended the power-bass speakers for a good speaker that isn't super expensive (just make sure to do some digging and make sure you don't buy a crap model).

as far as alpine Ive never had good luck with anything from them (amps, decks and speakers)

i put up a pic of how I did my door speakers. I mounted the amp in place of the stock sub. Im going to enclose the smaller speaker once its warmer out

component speakers will amost alwasy sound better if PLACED correctly... But that often requires alot of work fabricating and cutting. Pretty much every brand has RETAIL and HIGH END stuff.. the local stores will often carry the reatil stuff as its cheaper (in all ways). I wont get into a ******* match with anybody on brands.. I have used Alpine, Pioneer, JVC and Kenwood, kicker, RF, etc.. even some Sony many years ago. Hit a few stereo forums that are no full of "$$$$ means good" people and you can find some amazing pieces of kit for great prices. Jensen the low end guys actually make a couple of amps that are worth a look.. as long as you are looking for a thump, not a earthquake. But keep in mind cheap is cheap pretty much all the time. Best deals are just past.. end of year stuff.. Not a brand but a store I would recomend for some OK (im sure if you hunt you can find better) prices.

on my truck the bottom speaker isn't enclosed, it got cold out so i never got around to finishing it. ill enclose it when it gets warmer out. It actually sounds really good, i have 3 way components. it might sound better if i made a custom mount for the door and angled them more. but like I said I like how it sounds. Only thing I have to say on sony is that its not as good as it used to be. that being said i bought a sony deck for my camaro a few months back and I really like it.

you have to do some research on whatever speakers/decks/amps you buy because almost all companies make crap models along side the good models. It also kind of depends what you want to get out of your speakers. the ones I have have decent bass, but they were really made to hit highs/mids. I plan on buying some subs so that is fine with me.

I prefer Focal myself, But out of your list i believe that Kicker, Soundstream, and MBQuart are the best. And out of those three I think Kicker has the best all around sound and performance. MBQuart is a really close second!

I like the KS because it has EVC (extended voice coil) so you can run a little more power to them without distortion and/or bottoming out.

I can get you hooked up with what I have at a very reasonable price, and phoenominal sound staging! Very comparable to my bud's focals for a whole lot less money, and non metallic sound since they have soft silk dome tweeters.

Listen to alpine compared to the cheaper kicker ds,ks and even alpine's cheapest component seperates sound way better! IMO but then again I've only been doing car audio since 1988, before MB Quart, Hifonics, Soundstream, Crunch and a slew of others have gone the way of cheap ass china crap!! Focal is still very good but also expensive. Go to a retail store, if you can still find one in business-lol, do a listening comparison. Component seperates, properly set-up and positioned, will almost always sound tremendously better than coaxial or triaxial speakers.! IMO!

I agree go to a retail storem listen to everything and find somthing you like, then tell them your ordering online they may price match, probably wont but its worth a shot. Alpine makes some turds just like any other company, which is why you need to do a little research. my buddy bought a set of said turd speakers a few months back, a $40 set of sony speakers sounded better than them
