Well, I just broke my second plastic driver's door handle in my 2007 Expedition. Does anyone know if anybody makes a metal door handle so I don't have to take my door apart again after the next time? This is getting ridiculous! Thank you!

Check Autozone. They show a Dorman for your year. At least if it breaks again, should be warranty. I remember back in the 70's Pontiac and Chevy had that problem with Firebirds and Camaros.

How are they breaking and which part of the handle?

Did Ford make a stronger replacement handle?

Ah-Hah! I should have been more clear in my original post! I'm talking about the inside door handle - not the outside one.

Pulled into my gas station the other day. Forgot that the inside handle had just broken. Ice had frozen my driver's side window in place. Sooo, had to roll down the rear driver's side window, raise the driver's seat, then recline it to reach around and open it from the outside. I'm reaching to hunt it down with my fingers. A cute blonde about thirty-five (half my age) comes up to my door and says "You look desperate for escape! Want some help?" Then she reaches over and opens my door. For her rescue and in my undying appreciation, I bought her a cup of coffee mocha! :)

My sweetheart and I call that "Hossing" the door....after Dan Blocker, Hoss on Bonanza.

I use this term constantly because, well my Kerry is an ex college rugby player and quite often will "hoss" something if she isn't warned ahead of time to be gentle.....yeah, straight from Brynn Elliotts mouth....but I never met a cooler girl!

Hope you get it resolved....maybe a "universal" will go one with some mods?

I saw a few metal ones, "inside" handles when I keyed up on eBay. Probably just pot metal though. Maybe worth a try though.

I have looked on Ebay myself. The problem is, while they say chrome, they don't say metal! And the two I broke were both chrome... over plastic! Dang it! :)

Really? I didn't find any that said metal! They DO say chrome, but they don't say over plastic until you find out yourself!

Well that blows. Are the dealer ones still available? Sometimes, a manufacturer will improve on the one that came from factory, through their parts dept.

Have you checked the door latch mechanism? If the cable keeps breaking the door handle, I'd take the lock out, check it and lubricate it all so I'm sure it's working freely and not binding.

Curious as well. I have an 08, and while it's had it's share of issues, the door handles aren't among them.

Yah....... And when I typed in door latch for 2007 Expy it says 2002-2007. Looks like a cross generation part that doesn't include 2008. Damn! Lucky YOU .... and poor ME! LOL!
