Of the last 30 days 28 have rained Jeff. We haven’t had sunlight in a while now it gets pretty depressing. They are saying the whole summer is going to be this way.

Good lord I hope not. I didn't move to Seattle did I?

My Harley is wasting away under a cover and wants to get outside. Although on a rare nice weekend a month or so ago I went for ride (on the motorcycle) around the great sacandaga lake which was still frozen at the time and had the weird experience of stopping at a bar/restaurant that had 4 motorcycles and 2 snowmobiles (riding on the lake) in the parking lot.

Kerry & I helped her Sister & BiL move up to Schenectady last Fall...they like the Expy too<LOL>...outside of Albany isn't it? Pretty country up there and I was surprised because in my neighborhood here in Maryland, 95-98% of the driveways have a truck of some sort but up there, I saw a LOT of cars. Hmmm, maybe folks up there know how to drive in the snow??

That's a nice OH panel...a lot nicer than the one on my 03EB and the rear looks brand new!

nice pics!

Very good looking truck. I just bought an 07 Eddie Bauer myself, and am so glad to see your thread. I have a feeling I'll learn a lot about my new truck by reading your thread!

Thanks! It’s a nice trim level for sure. I’ve always liked two tone so the body moldings and seats are a plus.

They are usually good. You just need to make sure the drain tubes that go down the A pillars stay clear, no dirt or debris.

I wonder if I’d lose any power putting the navigation unit from my XLT in the Eddie Bauer. The XLT had basic sound and I swapped the head-unit out for the nav system. The new one has the upgraded Audiophile system with the subwoofer so not sure if they’d be compatible sound-wise. I can live without but the screen was nice.

I've had the same thoughts. Before we bought the Expedition we test drove an XLT. It had an aftermarket touch screen with Nav and backup camera built in. Sure would be nice for hooking up the camper! But dont want to lose the sound.

I put an audiophile factory navigation head in my '08 XLT. The '08 and '07 head units are the same except for some chrome trim. I had to make a harness to run back to a factory subwoofer amp and speaker and install a grille in the real quarter panel. Also installed steering wheel controls.

The navigation head can be programmed to run without a woofer, but you'd have to send it out for that.

Hmmm so if I already have the audiophile head unit without the nav, would an OEM audiophile head with nav fit in with minimal effort?

I believe it depends on the nav unit. Mine was programmed to run without the subwoofer so if I connect it to my Eddie Bauer the sound would suck. For now I’m just leaving in the 6-CD head unit but maybe I’ll send the nav unit out to get reprogrammed down the road.

Yes it all plugs in with light effort. You just need to purchase a GPS antenna as well.

At this point I’m used to the EL so I can make a valid comparison to my previous short bus expy.

Driving and everyday maneuvering is largely similar between the two. Parking is slightly more work in the EL but again not by much.....feels like parking ol’ red. Acceleration is slightly slower but barely noticeable on the butt dyno, maybe I’ll tune this one. The big plus is the extra cargo space, I’m really enjoying the room behind the third row. The EL seems like it rides better than the shorty with the extra wheelbase.

Besides that they are similar beasts

So still wasn’t happy with the front seats. This morning I cleaned them with LA’s Awesome liberally and then applied leather protectant. Got a lot of dirt out yet again and I think they look much better.

J, the 6disc setup we had in our 08 Town car sounded pretty good for stock. Granted your sub won't go down as deep, since you don't have that big ole trunk. But adding a removable box sub will do the trick. I'm sure even the stock 8inch woofer has got more power than the one in my older SUV.

It’s got good kick for sure. It’s impressed me for a stocker.

As J says, it plugs right in. Almost all are programmed for a rear subwoofer, so if you install it without one you'll lose the bass. A GPS antenna plugs right in and mounts on a bracket under the dash pad. If you're installing in an XLT you won't have steering wheel or verbal control unless you make the extra harness and install the switch and mirror microphone,

Yea, it may be easy to put in. But paying for one is another matter. I priced one on EBay and it was about a thou. Might have to search the local salvage yards.

I bought mine from LKQ on EBay and offered them $250, they took it right away.
