Edge Programmer

I am very new to the Expy family. I have seen many members with these different programmers. Can someone please explain the use and purpose for these.

programmers basically allow to change the parameters in the computer, ie change shift point and pressure, adjust for different tire sizes, change/delete speed limiter. Programmers come with canned tunes, tunes aimed at mileage, 87 gas performance, 91/93 performance, towing etc. the programmers can be tuned with custom tunes using a dyno etc. im sure more will be along to add to or change some of what i said.

Follow up question ? What would be a good midlevel tuner for a 5.4 ? I guess im asking for a pole of who has what and price ranges?

depends on the year of your truck. not all programmers work with all the years. Id go to the programmers websites and look and each that is offered. Then find which one fits your needs the best. Some are basic and some can do everything. Then you can look on ebay or craigslist to see if you can find any cheap(make sure the aren't VIN locked). i Have a superchips 1815 flashpaq(basic). here is a list of some of the companies that offer programmers:

I noticed in your Sig you have an 03 ? That is the same as mine . I had a hard time finding a nice tuner for the 03. For some reason most tuners skip the 03.I ended up going with an edge EVO HT. It does not have A live display but it was only 349 at summit racing. I am thinking of doing a review on it once I get a few tanks through it. Right now I am still on the first tank.

Got my CTS uploaded with custom tunes last night. All I can say is Wow!! Went with a custom 87 performance and a 87 custom tow tune. Have been running the 87 perf all day long when I can steal the Expy from my wife.. Filled up last night and will check mileage although I expect it to be kinda off since it's hard to not stomp on the gas everytime. If you decide to go with PHP, please be patient as there are only 2 office employees, Bill(who also writes the tunes) and Corey his wife. She is dealing with ongoing medical issues and this causes some difficulty in reaching them. Joining their forum really helps you staying informed...

airborne jordan. yes it was hard finding one for an 03. thats why i got the flashpaq for now(ford gas engines 97-09). really want the sct 8900 but also looking at the superchips vivid
