I have a 2002 expedition with a 4.0L. This morning I was trying to test the low pressure switch on the a/c. After pulling the electrial wiring away from the fire wall to get to the switch, i found that the truck would not start. Their is no power to the lights or dash. The starter does not do anything. I did find that if I jumped across the starter relay it would start, but the starter would not disengage. So I replaced the relay, did not help. The voltage on the battery is 12.7v. Any ideas as to what could be causing the short?

If all you did was to move the wiring harness then I would check the connections around where you were working. Depending on how much you moved it something may have broken or loosened up.

If nothing is obvious then you'll need a test light or dvm to start troubleshooting. Also, I think there is a mega fuse in that area that may have blown.
