Hey everyone,
I just had a 5.4 replacement engine installed with new engine mounts and the shop claims it never had the plastic engine cover that goes bolted on top with the ford logo etc. the motor shakes the truck a lot and im wondering if the cover helps with stabilizing the motor up top ? another friend told me it would and it kind of makes sense but what is your opinions. motor was from the same year etc. same size everything 2000 xlt 5.4 triton

It almost sounds like a misfire to me. Does the truck run smoothly? Or does is **** around when you're driving it?

I agree take it back to the installer. The shaking you describe could be many things from driveshaft to internal engine balancing.
